The Lafourche Parish Council appointed Holly "Scooter" LeBouef as interim constable in the Raceland area at a special meeting held last Wednesday night.
LeBouef was the husband of incumbent Dwain LeBouef, who died March 20.
Constables serve eviction notices and paperwork for small claims. They serve as the officer for the justice of the peace court, in this case in Lafourche's District 2.
Holly LeBouef will fill the constable position until the Oct. 9 election, when Raceland voters will elect a permanent replacement who will serve the remainder of Dwain's six-year term, which ends Dec. 31, 2026.
Dwain LeBouef won last year’s election with over 70% of the vote.
