BIG Buddy in Business Program Hosts 45 Lafourche Parish High School Juniors
Bayou Industrial Group (BIG) recently kicked off their B.I.G. Buddy in Business Program by collaborating with Lafourche Parish School District. This was a groundbreaking event that saw 45 high school juniors engage with twelve BIG member companies and receive high-level mentorship. South Lafourche, Central Lafourche, and Thibodaux High juniors got to learn more about possible career pathways via a unique shadowing program.Â
The objectives of this initiative included availing career-based guidance and mentorship to students who may not have easy access to experts in their preferred professions. Additionally, students got a chance to network with local business professionals, which could lead to greater retention in the Bayou Region.Â
Participating companies included DDG, D. Lafont Consulting Group, Foret Contracting Group, LLC, Gallagher, GIS Engineering, John Deere Thibodaux, LaJaunie's Pest Control, LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors, L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College, Louisiana's Cajun Bayou Tourism, REV Business, and Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Students who participated in the program will also receive an invite to the BIG membership luncheon slated for Monday, June 12.
