A person has been pronounced dead after a body was found today either near or in Bayou Lafourche.
Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 and LPSO both confirmed a "medical emergency" was taking place on the southern end of the parish this afternoon after The Gazette had received multiple calls from concerned readers calling after hearing sirens and/or seeing ambulances traveling on the road at accelerated rates of speed.
Chief Kully Griffin with Fire District 3 confirmed to The Gazette the incident tonight and said that firemen arrived on the scene and started performing CPR on a person near the Galliano area near East 153rd Street.
Griffin said there is no information yet on what happened, but he did confirm that the person was treated via ambulance and has been pronounced dead from a possible drowning.
As more information becomes available, we will update this story.
