Coronavirus

The Louisiana Department of Health released new stats today, detailing the number of patients hospitalized by COVID-19 and the number on ventilators.

Per statistics, there are currently 491 patients in the state in the hospital because of coronavirus, up from 271 in yesterday's totals. Those totals are out of 1,795 total cases reported in the state.

There are 163 people in the state currently on ventilators, up from 94 yesterday.

The Department of Health also lists Lafourche Parish's death as a 62-year-old patient, but Parish President Archie Chaisson has yet to officially confirm that information. That's because when he's notified of a positive test, he said he's given the patient's age, and none of the positive Lafourche cases have been 62-years-old.

A chart of the state's official deaths, listed by age and parish is also listed below.
