Lost amidst the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic is that early voting is underway for the July 11 election.
Early voting started on Saturday and will run through July 4 with voting able to be done every day except for Sunday.
Voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. each day.
The parish has three voting stations - one in each portion of Lafourche - south, central and north.
The South Lafourche voting station is located at the Galliano Registrar of Voters Office, 16241 E. Main St., Ste. B-23.
The Central Lafourche voting station is located at the Mathews Registrar of Voters Office, 4876 Hwy. 1.
The North Lafourche voting station is located at the Thibodaux Registrar of Voters Office, 307 West 4th St.
The July ballot has a lot on it.
It is Louisiana's presidential primary, and it is also a chance for most Lafourche voters to vote for a State Representative to serve the 54th District, a seat vacated when former Rep. Reggie Bagala died of COVID-19 complications earlier this year.
The special election features 6 candidates - all Republicans.
The July ballot also will decide the Lafourche Parish School Board District 12 seat, and also a seat on the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.
