Former Louisiana Governor Mike Foster is entering hospice care.
The governor's family announced that decision today, saying that they wish to "extend their continued gratitude for the prayers & well wishes."
Foster, 90, was a State Senator from 1988-96 before serving as Governor from 1996-2004.
Foster is from St. Mary Parish and retired from politics after completion of his term as Governor.
He succeeded Gov. Edwin Edwards and was replaced by the late-Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
