Friends of Bayou Lafourche, Inc., signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lafourche Parish Career Magnet Center for the construction of floating docks for use along Bayou Lafourche.
The initiative's purpose is to create new recreational access to Bayou Lafourche by constructing and increasing availability of floating docks for individuals, businesses and government entities along Bayou Lafourche.
Friends of Bayou Lafourche will provide the school with the necessary materials and hardware and the instructor-led students at the Magnet Center will construct various-sized floating docks along with the anchoring components.
The docks will be made available for both private and public use.
To acquire a floating dock, contact Friends of Bayou Lafourche at firstname.lastname@example.org or 985-665-8474.
Ryan Perque, Executive Director of Friends of Bayou Lafourche said this is a great partnership that will work well for both parties.
“We are extremely grateful to CMC Principal Jarad Walker and Superintendent Jarod Martin for their willingness to participate in this innovative partnership," Perque said. "As we see a large increase in the number of batture property permit submissions through the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District, this initiative will enable Friends of Bayou Lafourche to offer safe and durable docks for private and public sites along the bayou as we see more individuals utilizing Bayou Lafourche recreationally."
Mr. Jarod Martin, Superintendent of Lafourche Parish School District and Mr. Jarad Walker, Principal of Lafourche Career Magnet Center stated, “We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to the opportunities it will bring for both the students of the Career Magnet Center and the community members of Lafourche Parish.”
