The Louisiana Department of Health updated its COVID dashboard today, which continues our progress in slowing the spread of the virus in our communities.

The state's % positive today is 1.8% with 198 new COVID cases and 10,808 processed tests.Â
The state's % positive was as high as 13% at the peak of the third wave of the pandemic. But it has plummeted to well below 5% with most updates now below 3%, continuing great signs of progress in fighting off the virus's spread.
The state reports 9 new COVID deaths today, bringing the state's confirmed COVID death total to 9,324.Â
In Lafourche, there are 10 new confirmed COVID cases today, bringing the parish's confirmed COVID case totals to 7,152 since the start of the pandemic last year.Â
The parish's new 7-day positivity number will be updated tomorrow.

Today's increase aside, our COVID hospitalizations have rapidly dropped in recent weeks. At the peak of the third virus wave, there were near-2,100 hospitalizations. Today, that number has been slashed to its current figures.Â
