The state's COVID numbers continue to tumble. The Friday update from the LDH show fewer than 600 new COVID cases today and hospitalizations which continue to sink – now below 500 in the latest numbers.

In recent months, our curve flattened, then dropped drastically since the deadly Delta Wave, which sent hospitalizations to higher numbers than we've ever seen in the pandemic.

New cases: 559

Total COVID cases: 751,874

New deaths: 24

Total deaths: 14,321

Total Lafourche COVID cases: 17,754 (29 more since Wednesday)

Total Lafourche deaths: 306 (1 more than Wednesday)

Lafourche's 7-day positivity: 3.3% (updated Wednesday; down from 4.1% last week)

Louisiana COVID hospitalizations: 456 (21 fewer than Wednesday)

Louisiana COVID patients on ventilators: 80 (8 fewer than Wednesday)

Region 3 COVID hospitalizations: 24 (1 fewer than Wednesday)

Region 3 COVID patients on ventilators: 1 (2 fewer than Wednesday)


In cases from Sept. 30-Oct. 6, unvaccinated COVID patients accounted for:

-84% of COVID cases

-80% of COVID deaths

Unvaccinated COVID patients make up 82% of our current COVID hospitalizations, as of October 14
