The Louisiana Department of Health released its first COVID numbers since last Friday, and the new data shows the state is continuing its progress in limiting virus hospitalizations.
The state's virus hospitalizations sunk by more than 200 patients since last update as the Delta Wave continues to slowly simmer.
The state added more than 10,000 new cases, but that's since last Friday.

New deaths: 223 (since Friday)

Total Lafourche COVID cases: 16,580 (189 more than Friday)
Total Lafourche deaths: 256 (5 more than Friday)
Lafourche's 7-day positivity: 17.2% (updated Wednesday; down from 18.0% last week)
Louisiana COVID hospitalizations: 2,447 (237 fewer than Friday)
Louisiana COVID patients on ventilators: 446 (33 fewer than Friday)
Region 3 COVID hospitalizations: 107 (40 fewer than Friday)
Region 3 COVID patients on ventilators: 27 (4 fewer than Friday)
In cases from August 12-18, unvaccinated COVID patients accounted for:
-90% of COVID cases
-81% of COVID deaths
Unvaccinated COVID patients make up 91% of our current COVID hospitalizations, as of August 31
