The State of Louisiana is going to be offering pre-loaded debit cards to the parents of school-aged children who have been receiving free lunch at school.
The program is called Pandemic-EBT, and beginning on Monday, parents will be able to apply to be in the program.
The families that qualify will receive a pre-loaded EBT debit card worth $285 per child. The cards will be loaded monthly and balances will roll over to the next month. The funds must be used within a 365-day period.
The same functions and restrictions of a standard EBT card will be in place with the P-EBT cards.
To qualify, a home must have a child who qualifies for free lunch. The child must be 18 or younger and must live in the household.
Applications will begin on Monday.
