Protestors in Washington DC have invaded the United States Capitol today.
Protests were held throughout the morning in DC to protest President-Elect Joe Biden's electoral college win in the November election, a victory which was slated to be confirmed today by lawmakers.
Those protests became violent this afternoon and the protestors have now broken into the United States Capitol.
President Donald Trump has tweeted asking his supporters to stand down, saying he does not stand with the violence in Washington DC.
Lawmakers in the Senate chambers have been evacuated to a secure location, according to national media reports.
Initial reports are that there were not enough policemen on the scene to keep the protestors away, but reinforcements have been called and are on the way.
