The Louisiana Department of Health has posted new COVID numbers today, which show another increase in state COVID hospitalizations.
The state reports 2,073 new COVID cases today, bringing Louisiana's total number of coronavirus cases to 202,743 since March.
The state's percent positive rate today is 7.4% with 2,073 new cases and 27,961 processed tests.
The state added 15 new COVID deaths to its totals today, which are now 5,951 since the start of the pandemic.
Most of the above-listed cases are closed cases because the state reports 185,960 COVID recoveries. Adding recoveries and deaths show that there are a little more than 10,000 active COVID cases in the state.
For Lafourche, there were 25 new COVID cases today, bringing parish totals too 4,156.
The parish still has 130 COVID deaths - a number that's been flat for more than a week.
The parish's % positive rate today is 4.3% with the 25 cases and 571 processed tests. Lafourche's positivity rate continues to exceed state averages on most days.
Our hospitalizations continue to rise in Louisiana, as well. The state reports 929 COVID hospitalizations today, up from 886 yesterday.
Patients on ventilators is down today, though, from 93 yesterday to 88 today.
In our region, Region 3, COVID hospitalizations have risen from 24 to 27, though patients on ventilators remains flat at 1.
