A new COVID-19 update has given new cases to both Louisiana and Lafourche, but continued slowed growth.
Louisiana cases grew from 27,068 to 27,286 in the new update, which encompassed data from 12:01 p.m. yesterday to 11:59 a.m. today.
The state had 1,697 deaths (43 probable) in the last update. That number is now 1,758 deaths (43 probable).
Louisiana processed 4,119 tests today.
The growth of just more than 200 new COVID-19 cases is Louisiana's smallest single-day jump since March 22.
In Lafourche, cases continued to grow, as well. The parish's cases rose from 632 to 635 in the new update. The parish has 39 COVID-19 deaths.
Louisiana has made big strides in limiting its COVID-19 curve in recent weeks.
The state has greatly limited its total hospitalized patients and its ventilator use in recent weeks, allowing the state's hospital system to catch up to patient demand.
Yesterday, there were 1,683 patients hospitalized and 262 on ventilators.
Today, those numbers are 1,666 hospitalized and 244 on ventilators.
