Empathy is the ability to put yourself in another’s place, see their needs and help.
When I was brought into the ER, the staff saw my distress and gave me oxygen while bringing me to the exam room. Within 15 minutes I had an IV going, lab work drawn, EKG, Chest X-Ray and an ER doctor telling me I was a lucky lady.
I had COVID-19 and double pneumonia. I felt that my time on this earth was over, but they brought me back and I will be forever grateful to each and every one at TRMC.
There is a stigma associated with COVID-19 which is understandable but no one treated me differently. I asked one of the nurses and this was her answer: “We have the equipment, medicines, doctors and know how to treat the disease and get you back on the road to recovery. Our gift to you is to get you well. Your gift to us is we know we have helped in your recovery.”
God has truly sent his angels to care for his Cajun people.
