The E.D. White boys' soccer team is one win away from a state title.

The No. 5 Cardinals soared past No. 1 University Lab 4-2 tonight in Baton Rouge in the Semifinals of the Division III State Soccer Playoffs, punching a ticket to Tuesday's Championship Match.

That match will be played on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Hammond.

The Cardinals will be facing the winner between No. 2 Lusher and No. 3 Loyola Prep.

E.D. White tied Lusher earlier this season in a regular season match.

But the Cardinals are playing their best soccer of the season right now.

E.D. White relentlessly pressured the top seed throughout Saturday's match, putting countless shots on goal to control the pace of play.

Four different Cardinals players (Patrick Lyons, Eli Servat, Matt Gros and Kade Folse) scored in the victory, which continued the Cardinals' 12-match unbeaten streak - a streak which is more than a month and a half long.
