Wes Toups

The Nicholls baseball team is getting a prized transfer commitment from a local standout.

Former E.D. White standout and LSU baseball outfielder Wes Toups announced tonight that he's transferring from LSU to Nicholls.

Toups was a freshman this past season, a season shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Toups played in 9 of 17 games in his freshman season with 2 starts.

He hit .222 (2-of-9) with both hits being doubles.

LSU signed Toups because they loved his range in the outfield. He is an elite athlete who was a multi-sport star with E.D. White.

Now, that speed and athleticism will be Nicholls' blessing in the future.

"I'm coming home to start my new chapter," Toups said. "Excited to announce that I'm transferring and will be playing for the Nicholls State Colonels next year. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible."
